Alongside our regular community planting days, we've increasingly been approached by local businesses looking to run a tree-planting event as part of their corporate social responsibility programming. It's a partnership model we've been refining over the past year.
How a corporate planting day differs from a community one
A corporate planting day follows broadly the same structure as our regular community sessions, seedlings from our nursery, a briefed planting site, our team on hand to guide correct technique, but with a few practical differences. We typically work with the business ahead of time on a site that ties naturally to their own operations or customer base where possible, and we handle the logistics of seedling supply, site preparation and aftercare planning so the business's own staff can focus on the planting itself rather than the organisational overhead.
Aftercare is the detail we push hardest on with corporate partners specifically. A planting day generates good visibility, but a tree that isn't watered through its establishment period doesn't survive regardless of how well the planting event itself went, so every corporate partnership includes a watering and monitoring plan for the months following, usually handled by our own nursery team with the business covering the cost.
What this has meant for our capacity
These partnerships have meaningfully expanded how many trees we're able to plant each season without stretching our volunteer base as thin, corporate partners typically bring their own staff as additional planting hands, and the modest sponsorship that comes with each partnership helps fund nursery expansion that benefits our regular community planting days too.
